Hail and Welcome!

Thanks for visiting our home on the web! We are a small group in central Illinois run by the husband-wife team of Joseph and Heather “Védís” Köerner. We have been associated with the Troth since 2002, and previously members of the ADF from 1999 to 2008.
We are Heathen, but accept the title Asatru as an acknowledgment to the debt we owe to the efforts of such men as Sveinbjorn Beinteinsson and to Icelandic/Norwegian literature. Other branches of Heathenry, however, are not ignored, and elements of Anglo-Saxon and continental German Heathenry also play a large part in our folkway.
We are family-oriented and friendly, In line with this thinking, we honor the Vanic deities Frey and Freya, and the matriarchs Frigg and Nerthus, as heavily as we hail the Asic wisdom of Odin, the ethics of Tyr, and the strength of Thor. Ancestral veneration and the honoring of wights also figure heavily in our practice.
Ultimately, our folkway is about reconnecting to our ancient Germanic heritage. We are ‘adoptive’, to take a term from Doug Freyburger, which is to say we feel practicing Heathenry is a reclamation of our ancestral religion, however, we will drink a horn with anyone who is serious about honoring the Aesir and Vanir.
Beyond this we feel that further discussions of our Troth with the Gods are best done face to face, or at least one on one. Please check out our site. Here you will find profiles of Joseph and Védís, a schedule of holidays we celebrate, and information on how to contact us. We are always looking to meet new Heathens, especially in the Midwest area.
Heil Goðanum!

My soul mate is Asatru, but has been out of contact with his People for many years due to life happening. He has been wanting for quite some time to reclaim his faith with the People. I will show him this site, and if it’s possible, could we meet with your Kindred? I am also interested in learning more. I know I am Pagan, but have yet to choose a specific path. Thank you.

My husband and I are new to the world of Heathenry and Asatru even though its ideals have been our ideals since we were young. We were recently introduced and since then, I have been honoring the gods, reading and learning and discovering and hoping to find others in the Central Illinois area to grow and share with us.

My husband and I live in Central Illinois and are in search of finding others that follow the ancient paths. I am relatively new to Heathenry and Asatru, but have lived by its core concepts for years. My husband has practiced in secret for years hoping to meet others to share a horn with in celebration and remembrance. I am very glad to have come across your website. Thank you.

Funny, just wanted to recalll the original ‘reason for the season’ and discovered asatru. First and foremost, I am a deist. But that is simply my philosophy with regards to the ‘god’ question. I am very interested in learning more and further I am happy to find this group. You’ll see me around.
